Spicy Flavoured Almonds Recipe

Here is a great almond recipe that will be like a firecracker in your mouth:


What You Will Need:

–   2 tsp of chilli powder

–   1 tsp of garlic powder

–   1 tsp of curry powder

–   1 tsp of cayenne pepper

–   1 Tbsp of olive oil

–   ½ tsp of hot pepper sauce

–   2 cups of plain toasted almonds


What You Will Need to do:

1.   In a pan, combine the oil, chilli powder, curry and garlic powder together.

2.   Once the contents of the pan have started to bubble, stir in the almonds and heat them up thoroughly.  This will probably take 3-4 minutes.

3.   Remove from heat and stir in the pepper sauce and cayenne pepper.  Let the almonds cool down before serving.


Apple Cranberry Chutney Recipe


Since having turkey for Christmas, I have cranberries on my mind.  Here`s a great recipe:


What You Will Need:

–   2 minced cloves of garlic

–   3 Tbsp of grated ginger root

–   1 cup of chopped onions

–   6 cups of peeled, chopped apples

–   4 cups of dried cranberries

–   1 seeded and chopped sweet red pepper

–   2 Tbsp of mustard seeds

–   2 cups of cider vinegar

–   2 cups of brown sugar

–   1 tsp of allspice

–   1 tsp of cayenne

–   1 tsp of salt


What You Will Need to do:

1.   In a food processor, puree the ginger root, garlic, onions and ½ cup of vinegar.

2.   In a pot, heat all the ingredients, except the cranberries, and let simmer.

3.   Next, add the cranberries and let simmer for about 15 minutes.




Cranberry Style Baby Back Ribs Recipe

Have some leftover cranberries?  Here’s a great way to use them up.

What You Will Need:

–   4 lbs of baby back ribs

–   ½ cup of water

–   2 ½ cups of cranberries

–   1 cup of brown sugar

–   ½ cup of sugar

–   ½ cup of chili sauce

–   6 Tbsp of cider vinegar

–   1 Tbsp of Worcestershire sauce

–   ¼ cup of chopped onion

–   Salt and pepper for seasoning


What You Will Need to do:

1.   Preheat your oven to 350°F.

2.   In a baking dish, lay out the ribs.  Season with salt and pepper.  Bake for 30 minutes.

3.    Now place the rest of the ingredients in a pot and bring to a boil.  Then reduce heat and continue to cook until the cranberries pop.

4.   Pour the ingredients from the pot and place in the blender.  Blend until everything has become pureed like.  Pour the sauce back into the pot and continue to simmer for about 15 minutes.

5.   Pour the contents of the pot over the ribs and continue to back the ribs, roughly another 20 minutes.


Frugal Tip ~ Remove Odour from your Carpet

To remove odour from your carpet that seems to never want to go away, sprinkle baking soda on your carpet and let it sit overnight.  The following day, sweep up the baking soda and vacuum up whatever baking soda is left over.


Champagne Sauce with Scallops Recipe


Are you entertaining for New Year Eve?  This is a perfect dish to serve for any event like this:

What You Will Need:

–   ¼ cup of sour cream

–   ½ cup of champagne

–   1 ½ Tbsp of olive oil

–   1 ½ lbs of scallops

–   1 cup of sliced mushrooms

–   1 ½ Tbsp of chopped shallots

–   1 Tbsp of Dijon mustard

–   ¼ tsp of tarragon

–   ¼ tsp of salt


What You Will Need to do:

1.   In a pan, heat the oil.  Once the oil is heated, add the scallops and cook for about 3 minutes on each side.

2.   Next, add the mushrooms to the pan and sauté for about 3 minutes.

3.   Add the champagne, tarragon, mustard and salt and mix everything together and let cook for a few minutes.

4.   Remove from the heat and stir in sour cream.  Once everything is mixed well, this dish will be ready to serve.



Pomegranate-Ginger Martini Recipe

I’m definitely making this drink for New Years!  Yum!


What You Will Need:

Ginger Sugar:

–   2 Tbsp of sugar

–   ½ tsp of very finely chopped gingerroot

–   1 slice of gingerroot


Ginger Syrup:

–   1 cup of sugar

–   1 cup of water

–   2 Tbsp of very finely chopped gingerroot



–   Ice

–   2oz of pomegranate juice

–   2oz of gin

–   2oz prosecco

–   1oz of the ginger syrup

–   1 Tbsp of pomegranate seeds


What You Will Need to do:

1.   In a bowl, mix 2 Tbsp of sugar and ½ tsp of chopped gingerroot together.  Place mixture on small flat plate.  Rub fresh gingerroot slice around rims of 2 martini glasses to moisten.  Dip moistened rims of glasses in ginger sugar mixture.

2.   In a saucepan, heat the ginger simple syrup ingredients over low heat until sugar is dissolved. Let stand 15 minutes.

3.   Fill martini shaker with ice.  Add gin, pomegranate juice and 1 oz of the ginger simple syrup; place lid on shaker and shake until cold and blended.  Pour into prepared martini glasses; add prosecco.

4.   Garnish with pomegranate seeds.


Sweet Potato and Rosemary Soup Recipe


This is an easy recipe but great way to change up the usual, average soup:

What You Will Need:

–   1 minced clove of garlic

–   1 Tbsp of olive oil

–   4 cups of vegetable broth

–   1 cup of milk

–   4 cups of cubed sweet potatoes

–   1 tsp of pepper

–   1 tsp of salt

–   1 Tbsp of rosemary


What You Will Need to do:

1.   In a pot, sauté the garlic in olive oil.

2.   Add the broth and sweet potatoes to the pot.  Bring contents to a boil and then let simmer until the sweet potatoes become tender.

3.   Next place the contents of the pot in a blender and blend until everything is smooth.

4.   Pour the contents of the blender back into a pot, turn the heat back on and stir in the milk, pepper and salt.

5.   Once the contents are mixed well, slowly stir in the rosemary and serve.
