Slow Cooker Chicken Mulligatawny Soup Recipe


This is a tasty, filling soup recipe to sure to warm you up on a chilly day.


What You Will Need:

–   ½ cup of rice

–   6 skinless chicken breast

–   2 chopped cloves of garlic

–   1 Tbsp of curry paste

–   2 tsp of minced ginger

–   1 ½ tsp of salt

–   2 cups of apple juice

–   1 tsp of cinnamon

–   1 thinly sliced green onion

–   1/2 cup coconut milk


What You Will Need to do:

1.   Slice chicken into thin strips.

2.   Combine chicken, rice, garlic, curry paste, ginger, salt, saffron and cinnamon stick in your slow cooker.  Pour in 5 cups water.  Stir until mixed.

3.   Cook on LOW for 8 hours.

4.   Remove cinnamon stick.  Stir in apple juice, coconut milk and green onion.




Slow Cooker Wild Mushroom Dip Recipe

Another different dip to serve to chance up the usual:

What You Will Need:

–   2 cups of white wine

–   1oz container of dried wild mushrooms (you can find this in the produce section)

–   2 cups of grated mozzarella cheese

–   2 cups of cream cheese – cubed

–   2 cans of cream of mushroom soup

–   1 tsp of tarragon

–   1 tsp of salt

–   1/2 tsp of black pepper


What You Will Need to do:

1.   In a microwaveable bowl, heat the wine for 3 to 5 minutes.

2.   Place dried mushrooms in the bowl with wine and let it for 10 minutes to re-hydrate.

3.   Next, place the mushrooms into a blender (keeping the reserving liquid) and blend until it is still slightly course.

4.   In a bowl mix the mushroom mixture, 2/3 cup of the reserved mushroom liquid and the rest of the ingredients.  Completely mix together and pour into your slow cooker.

5.  Cook on LOW for 3-4 hours, stirring once halfway through.


Slow Cooker Wild Rice Soup Recipe

This recipe is a bit different from the usual wild rice soup recipes that I’ve seen and tried before but I really enjoy this particular one: 

What You Will Need:
– 2 tsp vegetable oil
– 1 chopped onion
– 2 diced stalks celery
– 2 diced carrots
– 1 cup of diced turkey
– 1 cup of frozen peas – thawed
– 1/2 cup of wild rice
– 1/3 cup of flour
– 1/4 tsp of pepper
– 1 tsp of tarragon
– 3 ½ cup of chicken broth
– 1 ½ cup of milk
What You will Need to do:
1. In a saucepan, cook the onion, with vegetable oil until tender.
2. Add onion; cook about 4 minutes, stirring occasionally, until tender.
3. Spray your slow cooker with cooking spray. Place the onion, celery, carrots, turkey, wild rice, pepper and tarragon in your slow cooker. Followed by pouring the broth on top.
4. Cook on LOW for 6-8 hours.
5. In a bowl, mix the milk and flour together and then stir this mixture and the peas into the soup for the last 20 minutes, uncovered.

Slow Cooker Beef and Chipotle Dip


One of our New Year’s Resolutions is to have more people over at our place.  With that, I’m gathering some of the great dishes that I like to serve when entertaining.  Here is one of them:


What You Will Need:

–   1 package (250g/8oz) of cream cheese

–   1/2 cup of shredded hot pepper Monterey Jack cheese

–   2 Tbsp of a finely chopped onion

–   2 Tbsp of mayonnaise

–   1 cup of chipotle chiles, chopped and seeded (these can come in a can and is great when you use the sauce from the can too)

–   1/4 tsp of garlic powder

–   1/4 cup of finely chopped dried beef

–   1/4 cup of chopped, toasted pecans


What You Will Need to do:

1.   In a bowl, mix the chipotle chiles, garlic powder, mayonnaise, cream cheese, Monterey Jack cheese and onion together.  Once thoroughly mixed, stir in the beef.

2.   Spoon the contents of the bowl into your slow cooker.  Cook on LOW for 2 hours.

3.   Before you are ready to serve, add the pecans on top.



Slow Cooker Orange Chicken Recipe

This recipe is just like the orange chicken you’d get at a restaurant:

What You Will Need:

–   3-4 chicken breasts, chopped up in small pieces

–   1/3 cup of flour

–   1/2 Tbsp of salt

–   3 Tbsp of ketchup

–   1 tsp of balsamic vinegar

–   ¾ cups of frozen orange juice concentrate, thawed,

–   4 Tbsp of brown sugar

–   olive oil


What You Will Need to do:

1.   In a bowl, mix the salt, vinegar, sugar, orange juice and ketchup together.

2.   In a separate bowl, mix the flour and chicken chunks together, until the chicken is covered.

3.   Place some olive oil into a saucepan and brown the chicken.  Keep in mind that the chicken will fully cook in the slow cooker.  Once browned, place in your slow cooker.

4.   Pour the mixture that you made in the first bowl over the chicken in your slow cooker.

5.   Now cook the contents of the slow cooker on LOW for 5-6 hours or HIGH for 2-3 hours.


Slow Cooker Cranberry Apple Sauce Recipe

This tastes so good with pork chops but I’m sure there are a lot of other things too:


What You Will Need:

–    4 ½ cups of mostly peeled, chopped up apples

–   2 ½ cups of cranberries

–   ¾ cup of apple juice

–   2 ½ cups of brown sugar

–   1 ½ tsp of pumpkin pie spice


What You Will Need to do:

1.   In your slow cooker, mix the apples and cranberries.

2.   Add the rest of the ingredients and mix well together.

3.   Cook on LOW for 10 hours.

4.   Next, let the contents of the slow cooker cool down.  It is okay to place in it the refrigerator, if you’d like.

5.   Drain all the liquid and place the solid mixture in a blender and blend until everything becomes smooth.

6.   Place in an airtight container and place in the refrigerator when you’re not enjoying.


Hoisin Garlic Mushrooms Slow Cooker Recipe

Are you hosting or attending a New Year’s event and want to serve something out of the ordinary?  Try this sweet and salty mushroom appetizer:


What You Will need:

–   ½ cup of hoisin sauce

–   ¼ cup of water

–   2 Tbsp of minced garlic

–   ½ tsp of red pepper

–   3 cups of trimmed, whole fresh mushrooms


What You Will Need to do:

1.   In your slow cooker, mix the hoisin sauce, water, garlic and red peppers together.

2.   Add the mushrooms to the slow cooker and stir until the mushrooms are coated.

3.   Cook on LOW for 5-6 hours or on HIGH for 2-3 hours.


These are best served warm, like cocktail meatballs.
