Turkey and Roasted Red Pepper Meat Loaf Recipe

An easy recipe that lets you enjoy that great taste of turkey.

 

What You Will Need:

–   1 1/2 pounds ground turkey

–   1 small chopped yellow onion

–   1/2 cup bread crumbs

–   1 beaten egg

–   1 cup grated Parmesan

–   2 Tbsp Dijon mustard

–   1 cup chopped parsley

–   1 cup of roasted red peppers from a jar  – cut into ½” pieces

–    ¾ tsp salt

–   ½ tsp pepper

 

 

What You Will Need to do:

1.   Preheat your oven to 400° F.

2.   In a bowl, mix the turkey, onion, bread crumbs, egg, Parmesan, mustard, parsley, red peppers, salt and pepper.  Shape the meat into an 8” loaf and place in a baking dish.

3.   Bake for 45 minutes and enjoy.

 

 

 

Slow Cooker Turkey Chili Recipe

Here is a great chili recipe that contains turkey:

 

What You Will Need:

 

– 1 Tbsp of vegetable oil

– 1 pound of ground turkey

– 2 cans of tomato soup

– Roughly 2 cups of canned kidney beans (I say roughly as it may be a little more or less, depending on the can you purchase)

– Roughly 2 cups of canned black beans (I say roughly as it may be a little more or less, depending on the can you purchase)

– 1/2 chopped medium onion

– 2 Tbsp of chili powder

– 1 tsp of red pepper flakes

– 1/2 Tbsp of garlic powder

– 1/2 Tbsp of ground cumin

– 1 tsp of ground black pepper

– 1 tsp of ground allspice

– 1/2 Tbsp of seasoning salt

 

What You Will Need to do:

 

1.  Heat the oil in a saucepan. Cook the turkey until brown.

 

2.  Coat the inside of your slow cooker with cooking spray.

 

3.  Mix in turkey, tomato soup, kidney beans, black beans and onion to the slow cooker.

 

4.  Season with chili powder, red pepper flakes, garlic powder, cumin, black pepper, allspice and salt.

 

5.  Cook for 8 hours on LOW or 4 hours on HIGH.

 

Romano Basil Turkey Breast Recipe

Romano Basil Turkey Breast Recipe

 

Want to enjoy some turkey without making the whole thing?  Try this recipe which I found at the Taste of Home website (with a few modifications from me):

What You Will Need: 

–   4 ounces Romano cheese, cubed

–   1/2 cup fresh basil leaves, torn

–   4 lemon slices

–   4 garlic cloves, minced

–   1 bone-in turkey breast (4 to 5 pounds)

–   2 tablespoons olive oil

–   1/2 teaspoon salt

–   1/4 teaspoon pepper

 

What You Will Need to do:

1.   Combine the cheese, basil, lemon slices and garlic in a bow.

2.   With fingers, carefully loosen skin from the turkey breast and place the mixture from the bowl under the skin.

3.   Secure skin to underside of breast with toothpicks. Rub skin with oil and sprinkle with salt and pepper.

4.   Prepare grill for indirect heat, using a drip pan. Place turkey over drip pan.

5.   Grill, covered, over indirect medium heat for 1-1/2 to 2 hours or until a meat thermometer reads 170°F.

6.    Remove toothpicks. Cover and let stand for 10 minutes before slicing.

How Long to Cook a Turkey

I absolutely love turkey!  I’m making turkey dinner tomorrow for the family.  I can never remember how long to cook the turkey for.  Right at the Butterball Website, Butterball has a calculator where all you have to do is enter the weight of the turkey and they will let you know how long it will need to be cooked.  I love this feature!
